NATURAL DYEING
I forage for dye plants and natural tannins in the local woods: walnuts, oak galls, bay, loquat & eucalyptus leafs.
I grow dye flowers such as calendula, dyer's coreopsis and woad in my garden to provide pollen and nectar for the local bee population & use some of their petals to bundle dye.
I collect kitchen scraps such as red & brown onion skins, avocado pits and coffee grounds to create vivid tones of yellow, pink, green and brown.
I dye vintage linen, napkins and tablecloths to make new clothes from these almost forgotten textile treasures.
I combine this ancestral knowledge, plant capacities & colour diversity with ethnographic research to create innovative place-based artistic objects and installations.
